Network Cabling Cat 5e/6

WiFi Installation / CCTV Installation

Commercial and Domestic Installation

Enigma Integration Ltd specialise in the design, delivery and maintenance of network infrastructures and associated technologies. We have formed strong partnerships with leading manufacturers to offer clients large and small the most cost effective solutions without compromising on quality or innovation.

Network Cabling: The Backbone of Connectivity

Network cabling refers to the physical wiring used to connect and transfer data between devices such as computers, servers, switches, routers, and more. The most commonly used cable types in structured cabling systems are Cat5e and Cat6:

Cat5e (Category 5 enhanced): A step up from original Cat5, Cat5e supports speeds up to 1 Gbps and is sufficient for most standard networking needs. It reduces interference and provides reliable performance for everyday internet use and VoIP systems.

Cat6 (Category 6): Designed for higher performance, Cat6 supports speeds up to 10 Gbps over short distances (typically up to 55 meters) and is more resistant to crosstalk and noise. It's ideal for high-speed environments such as data centers or networks supporting HD video streaming and large file transfers.

Remedial Cabling: Upgrading for Performance and Reliability

Over time, network systems may experience degradation due to outdated cabling, poor installation, environmental wear, or evolving performance needs. Remedial cabling involves inspecting, repairing, or upgrading existing cabling infrastructure to restore or enhance network performance. Common triggers for remedial work include:

  • Unstable or slow connections

  • Physical damage to cables

  • Increasing bandwidth requirements

  • Network expansion or reconfiguration

By replacing outdated cables (e.g., Cat5 with Cat6) or optimising layout and terminations, remedial work ensures the network continues to perform efficiently and supports future growth.

Network Fault Finding Service

The network cabling is an important infrastructure to any business and when a fault occurs it can be costly and disruptive.

We have many callout to businesses that are experiencing a connectivity issue due to poorly installed cabling or accidental damage, our experienced engineers have the appropriate test equipment to quickly and easily diagnose the fault and ultimately fix it and get you back up and running in no time.

WiFI Installation Service

While Wi-Fi networks deliver wireless access to users, they still depend on wired cabling behind the scenes. Wireless Access Points (WAPs) are typically connected to the network using Cat6 cables for maximum throughput. Proper planning and cabling ensure:

  • Strong, consistent wireless coverage across a space

  • Optimal backhaul speeds from WAPs to the network core

  • Seamless integration with other systems like VoIP, CCTV, and smart building tech

Home Network installation & CCTV

We are also experienced installers of commercial and domestic CCTV systems, weather you are looking for one or multiple cameras.

We install a small DVR connecting each camera over ethernet cabling using POE (Power over Ethernet) this eliminates the need for power to each camera or coax, this can we also include connecting to your PC mobile phone or tablet to give you full view of you property on or off site.

Modern security systems rely heavily on network connectivity. IP-based CCTV systems transmit video over network cabling, allowing real-time monitoring and storage on network video recorders (NVRs). Proper cabling, often using Cat5e or Cat6, ensures:

  • High-definition video transmission

  • Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities for camera power

  • Reliable, secure video feeds with minimal latency

Structured cabling simplifies the installation and scalability of CCTV systems, allowing for centralised control and easy expansion.

We install wired network cables: Cat5e and Cat6, we also install external and armoured cables for connection to outbuildings. For internal installations we will always use low smoke zero halogen cables to reduce toxic fumes in case of a fire.

Ethernet installations do not have to be as disruptive as you may imagine, as there is more flexibility in the placement of LAN cables than with other types of electric installations, it can be easily hidden, in walls, under carpets and even in coving, the low voltage carried in the cables means there is no danger of electric shock. RJ45 wall plates  (network faceplates) come in a variety of styles and we will normally be able to match your sockets or light switches to give a consistent look throughout your home.
